MacBook & iMac Repair in Zielona Góra
Does your MacBook no longer start, charge correctly or hold battery power? Is your iMac slow, overheating or still using an old mechanical hard drive? I provide independent diagnostics and repair services for MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac and other Mac computers in Zielona Góra.
Apple computers differ considerably between generations. Before ordering a battery, screen, storage device or another expensive component, I first identify the exact model and investigate the actual cause of the problem.
Communication is available in English by phone, email and text message. You can send photographs, error messages and the model number before visiting the workshop.
This is not an Apple Authorised Service Provider. I offer independent diagnostics, repairs, upgrades and maintenance for customers who want a clear assessment of the fault and available options.
Which Mac computers can be diagnosed?
MacBook Air
Diagnostics of charging, battery, display, keyboard, trackpad, storage, macOS and liquid-damage problems in older Intel models and newer Apple-silicon generations.
MacBook Pro
Help with power faults, damaged screens, cooling problems, worn batteries, liquid exposure, macOS errors and other hardware-related symptoms.
iMac and Mac mini
Diagnostics, cleaning, macOS installation, storage upgrades and repair assessment for desktop Mac computers.
The precise repair options depend on the model, year, processor generation and internal construction. Some components are replaceable modules, while others may be integrated or soldered to the logic board.
Common MacBook and iMac problems
The MacBook does not start
There may be no reaction to the power button, no image, repeated restarts, a folder symbol or a startup screen that never finishes loading. The cause may involve power, storage, macOS, the display or the logic board.
The battery drains quickly
A worn battery may provide very short operating time, switch the MacBook off unexpectedly, refuse to charge or expand inside the casing. Charging circuitry and the power adapter should also be considered before assuming that the battery is the only problem.
The screen is cracked or distorted
Physical cracks, vertical lines, flickering, dark areas, discolouration and loss of backlighting can involve the complete display assembly, cable, backlight circuit or another component.
The Mac has been exposed to liquid
Water, coffee and other liquids may create corrosion or short circuits even if the computer initially continues working. Repeated attempts to start or charge it can make the damage worse.
The MacBook becomes hot or noisy
Dust, a worn fan, blocked ventilation or deteriorated thermal materials may affect cooling. Some fanless MacBook models naturally behave differently and must be assessed according to their design.
macOS does not boot correctly
Startup errors may be caused by damaged system files, storage problems, an interrupted update, an unsupported system configuration or another hardware fault.
The iMac has become very slow
Many older iMacs still use mechanical hard drives or Fusion Drive configurations. Ageing storage, limited memory, overheating and software issues can all affect performance.
Important files are inaccessible
A Mac that no longer starts may still contain valuable photographs, documents and projects. Data security should be discussed before reinstalling macOS or replacing storage-related components.
MacBook battery replacement
A battery should not be replaced solely because macOS reports a reduced maximum capacity. Its age, charging behaviour, operating time, cycle count, physical condition and the customer’s needs should all be considered.
In many MacBook generations the battery is attached inside the upper casing with strong adhesive. Proper replacement therefore involves more than disconnecting one plug. The battery must be removed without damaging the trackpad, keyboard, casing or nearby components.
If a battery is swollen, the MacBook should not be pressed closed, punctured or repeatedly charged. Expansion can deform the trackpad, bottom cover and internal components.

MacBook and iMac screen problems
Before ordering a display, the exact model and year must be confirmed. MacBook screens may differ in size, colour, camera configuration, connector design and compatibility even when the computers appear similar from the outside.
A dark or flickering image does not always prove that the complete display assembly is defective. Diagnosis may also involve the display cable, backlight system, liquid damage, logic-board circuitry or graphics-related problems.
iMac display work requires additional care because many generations use a display bonded to the aluminium casing with adhesive strips. Accessing internal components may require controlled removal of a large and potentially expensive screen, followed by careful cleaning and installation with new adhesive.

Liquid damage and corrosion
Do not repeatedly test whether it still starts. Electrical power combined with moisture can accelerate corrosion and create additional short circuits.
The visible amount of liquid does not always indicate the extent of internal damage. A small spill can reach keyboard connectors, power circuits or components on the logic board, while a larger spill may sometimes remain mostly in a less critical area.
Internal inspection can include checking the logic board, connectors, keyboard, trackpad, battery and signs of corrosion. The available repair options depend on how quickly the computer was disconnected and which areas were affected.
Drying alone does not remove mineral deposits, sugar, coffee residue or corrosion. Rice is not an effective substitute for opening and inspecting the computer.

Cooling-system cleaning and maintenance
Intel-based MacBooks and iMacs may accumulate dust in their fans, ventilation channels and radiators. A worn or contaminated fan can become noisy, vibrate or provide insufficient airflow.
Depending on the model, maintenance may include internal cleaning, fan inspection, radiator cleaning, replacement of appropriate thermal material and temperature testing after reassembly.
Apple-silicon computers require an individual approach. Some models have active cooling, while others are fanless. A warm aluminium casing is not automatically proof of a fault because the enclosure also participates in dissipating heat.

iMac SSD upgrades
Replacing an old mechanical hard drive with an SSD can make a major difference to an older iMac. macOS and applications may start much faster, and the computer can become more comfortable for everyday work.
The correct approach depends on the iMac generation and original storage configuration. Some computers use a standard SATA drive, while others may also contain a blade SSD or Fusion Drive arrangement.
In many slim iMac models the display must be carefully separated from the aluminium body to access the drive. After the upgrade, the old adhesive must be removed and the display installed using appropriate new strips.
Before recommending an upgrade, it is worth considering the age of the iMac, display condition, expected macOS compatibility and the customer’s intended use.

macOS installation and system problems
A clean installation of macOS may help when the operating system is seriously damaged, but it should not automatically be the first action. Startup problems may also indicate storage failure, unsupported software, incorrect disk structure or another hardware issue.
The newest macOS version is not always the best option for every older Mac. Official compatibility, performance, application requirements and security updates should be considered before choosing a version.
Unofficial installation methods can sometimes extend the useful life of an older Mac, but they may also introduce limitations, update risks or compatibility problems. Such an upgrade should be treated as an informed choice rather than a guaranteed equivalent to official support.

Data recovery from MacBook and iMac
If the files are more important than restoring the computer itself, please say so before the repair begins. Reinstallation, formatting and some hardware operations may affect the available recovery options.
Data access can depend on the Mac generation, type of storage, APFS file system, FileVault encryption, login credentials and the condition of the logic board. Newer Mac computers may integrate storage and security components more closely with the original hardware.
A Mac that does not start does not automatically mean that the files are gone. Equally, a drive that appears visible does not guarantee that it is healthy. The safest approach depends on diagnosis.

Why the exact model matters
“MacBook Pro” or “iMac 21.5-inch” is not always enough information to identify compatible parts. Apple used many generations with different batteries, displays, keyboards, storage systems, processors and internal layouts.
Helpful identifiers can include:
- the model number beginning with the letter A,
- the serial number,
- the screen size and approximate year,
- whether the processor is Intel or Apple silicon,
- photographs of the underside and displayed error message.
Please avoid ordering a replacement battery, display or charger solely because an online listing contains a visually similar photograph.

Communication is easier than you think
You do not need to speak Polish to ask about a MacBook or iMac repair. I speak English and regularly help international customers.
You can contact me by email, SMS or another written messaging method and describe the problem in your own language. Written messages, photographs and screenshots can be translated carefully before I reply.
During a visit we can also use a translation application whenever necessary. The aim is to understand the equipment, fault, important files and repair decision clearly — not to conduct a perfect language examination.
When contacting me, please send:
- the exact Mac model or a photograph of its underside,
- a description of the symptoms,
- photographs or screenshots of any error messages,
- information about liquid exposure or physical damage,
- details of previous repair attempts,
- information about files that must be protected.
Please contact me before visiting so that we can arrange a suitable time. I may occasionally be away from the workshop while collecting equipment or handling another appointment.
Frequently asked questions

Both types can be diagnosed, but the available repair and upgrade options depend on the exact model and construction. Newer Apple-silicon computers integrate more components with the logic board.
Can a MacBook battery be replaced?
In many models, yes. The exact battery and replacement method depend on the MacBook generation. The charging system should also be considered before assuming the battery is the only fault.
Can an older iMac be upgraded with an SSD?
Many older iMacs can benefit considerably from an SSD upgrade. Compatibility and the required procedure depend on the year, internal storage arrangement and overall condition of the computer.
Can you install macOS in English?
Yes. The preferred language and required macOS version should be discussed before installation.
Can my files be preserved during a repair?
This depends on the fault and condition of the storage system. Important files must be mentioned before any reinstall, formatting or storage-related work begins.
What should I do after spilling liquid on a MacBook?
Switch it off, disconnect the charger and avoid repeated attempts to start or charge it. Bring it for internal inspection as soon as reasonably possible.
Is a dark screen always caused by a damaged display?
No. The display assembly, cable, backlight circuit, logic board and liquid damage can produce similar symptoms. Diagnosis should come before ordering a replacement screen.
Should I install the newest possible macOS on an old Mac?
Not automatically. Official support, performance, application compatibility and possible limitations of unofficial upgrade methods should all be considered.
Can I supply my own battery or replacement part?
This may be possible after compatibility is confirmed. The service warranty applies to the work performed, while a part supplied by the customer remains covered by its seller or manufacturer.
Will I know the cost before the repair?
After the initial assessment, the available options and estimated costs are explained. Parts are not ordered and significant additional work is not performed without prior agreement.
