Computer & Laptop Repair in Zielona Góra

Computer & Laptop Repair in Zielona Góra

Is your laptop no longer starting, becoming unusually hot, displaying Windows errors or working much more slowly than before? I provide diagnostics and repair services for laptops and desktop computers in Zielona Góra, with communication available in English.

Before replacing parts, I first try to understand what has actually failed. If a repair is unlikely to be economical, I will explain this before unnecessary costs are generated. If important files are stored on the computer, their safety is discussed before reinstalling Windows or carrying out other operations that may affect the drive.

English-speaking customers are welcome.
You can contact me by phone, email or text message. Written contact is often particularly convenient because you can send photographs, error messages and the exact model of the computer. Translation applications can also be used whenever necessary.

What kind of computers do I repair?

I work with everyday home computers, business laptops, gaming laptops and desktop PCs. This includes equipment used for work, study, communication, photography, entertainment and gaming.

Laptops and notebooks

Diagnostics and repair of standard, business and multimedia laptops from manufacturers such as Lenovo, Dell, HP, Asus, Acer, MSI, Toshiba, Sony and other brands.

Gaming laptops

Help with overheating, loud fans, reduced performance, sudden shutdowns, FPS drops, damaged screens and other problems affecting gaming computers.

Desktop computers

Diagnostics, cleaning, component replacement, Windows problems and upgrades of desktop PCs used at home or in small businesses.

Common computer and laptop problems

A symptom does not always identify the failed component. For example, a computer that will not start may have a power problem, a damaged drive, corrupted Windows files, faulty memory or a completely different fault. This is why diagnosis comes before ordering parts.

The laptop does not start

The computer may show no reaction, switch on without an image, restart repeatedly or stop at the manufacturer’s logo. The power supply, battery, drive, memory and mainboard may all require checking.

Windows does not boot

Messages such as “No bootable device”, automatic repair loops, blue screens or a black screen may result from a damaged Windows installation, boot partition or storage drive.

The computer has become very slow

A traditional hard drive, insufficient memory, an overloaded operating system, high temperatures or a failing drive can make even basic tasks frustratingly slow.

The laptop is overheating

Dust can block the radiator while old thermal material may no longer transfer heat effectively. The result can be loud fans, performance loss, high temperatures and shutdowns under load.

The screen is broken or distorted

Cracks, coloured lines, flickering, dark areas or no image may be caused by the display panel, display cable, graphics system or damage inside the lid.

The battery does not charge

Charging problems may involve the charger, USB-C or DC socket, battery, cable, charging circuit or software. The actual cause should be confirmed before parts are replaced.

The hinges or casing are damaged

A loose hinge can gradually break the lid, display frame, bottom casing or internal mounting points. Continuing to open the laptop may make a repair more difficult and costly.

The laptop has been exposed to liquid

Water, coffee and other liquids may cause corrosion even when the computer initially appears to work. Disconnecting power and avoiding repeated start attempts can reduce further damage.

Windows repair and installation

Reinstalling Windows is not always the first or best solution. Before doing so, I can check whether the problem may be caused by the boot manager, file system, drive condition, incorrect settings or another hardware fault.

When installation is necessary, the computer can be prepared with the appropriate version of Windows, available updates, drivers and essential configuration. If you need a specific language version of Windows, please mention this before the installation.

If important photographs, documents or business files are stored on the computer, tell me before any work begins. Depending on the condition of the drive, it may be advisable to secure the data before repairing or reinstalling the operating system.

SSD upgrades and computer performance

Replacing a traditional HDD with an SSD is often one of the most noticeable upgrades available for an older computer. Windows, applications and files can load much faster, while the original drive may sometimes remain in the computer as additional storage.

Before recommending an upgrade, I consider the age and general condition of the computer, the available interfaces, memory capacity and intended use. Installing an expensive drive in a computer with several unrelated faults may not be economically reasonable.

Depending on the situation, it may be possible to install Windows from the beginning, migrate the existing system or clone the old drive. The right option depends especially on the condition of the original disk and the importance of the data.

Cooling system cleaning and overheating

A cooling system cannot work effectively if the radiator is blocked by dust. Simply blowing air through the ventilation openings may move the dirt deeper inside or leave a compact layer of dust next to the radiator.

Depending on the computer and its condition, proper maintenance may include internal cleaning, inspection of the fan and radiator, replacement of thermal paste and checking temperatures after reassembly.

Gaming laptops require particular care because the processor and graphics system can generate considerable heat. Some models also use thermal pads, phase-change materials or liquid metal. Such cooling systems should be assessed individually rather than treated exactly like a standard office laptop.

Laptop screen and hinge repairs

A damaged screen does not necessarily mean that the entire laptop should be replaced. In many cases, the correct display panel can be identified and replaced after checking its size, resolution, connector, refresh rate, mounting system and other specifications.

The display should not be ordered only on the basis of the laptop’s commercial name. Different versions of the same laptop model may use different panels.

Hinge damage should also be addressed before it spreads. A stiff or partially detached hinge may break the lid, display frame, cable or bottom casing. Depending on the construction and the extent of the damage, repair may require replacement parts or reconstruction of the original mounting points.

How the repair process works

  1. You describe the problem.
Send the manufacturer, exact model, symptoms and any relevant history. Photographs and error messages are welcome.
  2. The computer is inspected and diagnosed.
The purpose is to identify the likely cause rather than replace parts at random.
  3. You receive information about the available options.
I explain what appears to be damaged, what can be done and whether the proposed repair is economically reasonable.
  4. You decide whether to proceed.
Parts are not ordered and significant additional work is not carried out without prior agreement.
  5. The computer is repaired and tested.
After the work is completed, the relevant functions are checked before collection.

Why diagnosis matters

Similar symptoms can have very different causes. A laptop that becomes slow may need an SSD, but it may also have a failing drive, excessive temperatures or a damaged Windows installation. A laptop that does not charge may have a faulty socket, but replacing the socket will not help if the actual problem is located in the charging circuit.

I therefore avoid promising a specific repair before the equipment has been checked. If I am unable to perform a particular repair or believe that it is not worth the cost, I prefer to say so directly.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to speak Polish?

No. I speak English and regularly assist international customers. You can contact me by phone, email or text message. Translation tools can also be used when necessary.

Can I send photographs before visiting?

Yes. Photographs of the computer, damaged parts, labels and error messages can make the initial conversation easier. However, a final diagnosis normally requires physical inspection of the equipment.

Should I bring the laptop charger?

Yes. The charger may be directly related to the problem and may also be needed during diagnostics and testing.

Can you repair Windows without deleting my files?

Sometimes this is possible, depending on the cause of the problem and the condition of the drive. Data cannot be guaranteed without a current backup, so important files should always be mentioned before work begins.

Can you install Windows in English or another language?

Yes. Please specify the preferred language before installation so that the correct configuration can be prepared.

Can I supply my own SSD or replacement part?

This may be possible after confirming compatibility. Please understand that the service warranty applies to the work performed, while responsibility for a part supplied by the customer remains with its seller or manufacturer.

How long does a repair take?

The time depends on the type of fault, the diagnostic process and the availability of replacement parts. A realistic estimate can usually be provided after the initial assessment.

Will I know the cost before the repair?

After diagnosis, I explain the available options and expected costs. Parts are not ordered and significant additional work is not undertaken without prior agreement.

Do you repair gaming laptops?

Yes. This includes diagnostics of overheating, loud cooling systems, reduced performance, shutdowns, screen damage and other faults. Cooling systems using unusual thermal materials require individual assessment.

What should I do after spilling liquid on a laptop?

Disconnect the charger, switch the computer off and avoid repeatedly attempting to start or charge it. If the battery can be disconnected safely, this may reduce further damage. Do not rely on rice or prolonged drying as a substitute for internal inspection and cleaning.

Is every old computer worth repairing?

No. The value, age, general condition and expected repair cost should be considered. If the repair is unlikely to be economically sensible, I will explain this directly.
